I've successfully programmed my D* remote (RC32) to control an HR20 (switch in left-most position) and an HR21 (AV1 position).
Now I'd like the volume/mute controls on my D* remote (RC32) to control my TXSR705 audio/video receiver for both receivers. The Setup->Remote configurator, however, assumes that common controls (volume/mute) are properties of a TV. Anybody know a work around?
First there has to be a tv code programmed to the tv device or the volume keys won't work. With onkyo code 30135 programmed to av2 device, yes you will need to use a device for the onkyo, to get the volume:
1. av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9 9 3
4. press SELECT

I'm afraid I don't understand. I don't have anything programmed for AV2.
What is the code 9 9 3 ? What do I do with the Onkyo code 3 0 1 3 5 ?
I am following this and would like to know , if once he gets the three codes setup, can he then add a TV INPUT button code, so the Onkyo is locked to Volume/mute AND the input button is locked to a TV ? In other words have your cake and eat it.
Thanks, Bob

You have to have a working onkyo setup code programmed to the remote, before you can send its volume to the other devices on the remote. Code 30135 is the onkyo code that will give access to the volume commands. It won't both turn ON & OFF the onkyo receiver, not with onkyos use of a two key power scheme, and add to this the single power key on the white remotes. One of the power commands will always be missing.
993 on the white remotes is the volume lock code, 993 plus VOL DOWN, turns off tv volume and restores the volume for the setup code programmed to that one device. where 993 + VOL UP, turns off the tv volume in all devices, unless a setup code doesn't have a volume of its own, in that case tv volume will still be there. 993 + SELECT, replaces the tv volume in all devices, with volume from the that device. which in your case you want to use.
I had a feeling you didnt have a clue about having to waste a device key on code a for you onkyo, because you didn't complain about the power commands, first. :)

Yes, the volume lock feature has nothing to do with tv input command, each has to be programmed in separately. But not all tv codes give you access to the tv input command even after entering the 960 procedure. So you try other tv codes for that TV brand, but not reentering the 960 code, it only has to be entered once.

I confess to being clueless. Where is all this stuff documented? It sure ain't nowhere in my manual.

The manual should walk you through where to access the items on your HR, including setting up an A/V receiver, but I would go no further than that in the manual.
They don't call Edmund the 'Remote Master" for nothing. Follow his instructions and you'll succeed. :)
