I am moving in about 6 weeks from Minnesota to Maine and called Dish to ask about the dish mover program. What a waste of breath on the other end of the phone. All I could get out of him was that I would need to take my existing 301 *AND* climb on the roof and remove the LNB from the dish 500 in order to qualify for the mover program. It's middle of winter here so I really don't want to climb up on the roof and do thier job so that they can save a buck on the reinstall. If I need to climb up there then I'll just take the whole thing and do it all myself. It will probably be a quicker install that way anyway.

I am currently under the free for all promotion until August 2003. When I asked if I could continue with the AT 100 he said no must up to AT 150 and cc auto pay with no lapse in service during the move (maybe a 2 week time frame). Then said that I could pay $100 and keep my current promo but start a new 1 year contract.

I just need to understand what is the best way to continue this service until August and I will most likely be adding a 508 to the setup soon after the move.

thanks for helping me shed some light on all this.

Go to their website and I think dishmover is under customer service. You definitely need to talk to a different CSR one that is intelligent.

I don't remember what the free for all promotion was - was that a 1 year contract that you signed up for? And both of his answers were bogus - definitely call back and talk to another CSR.

How big a deal is it to take the dish and move it myself? I need to do other roof work anyway so I'll be up there on the new house. Or am I just thinking that this will be easier than it really is going to be?

www.dishnetwork.com/content/support/moving/index.shtml should get you to the right location. The Free For All has no contract but if you stop the subscription payments you will lose the monthly credit on the account. Maine will have a low look angle so finding a location for mounting may be harder than at your current location.

The dishmover requires at150 and credit card autopay for a free install and dish. All you are to take with you is your receiver. The only promo not able to use dishmover is the lease plan, DHP. (Don't cut your service off during the move, or you lose the monthly credits.) Call a local dealer once you arrive, and they'll take care of you.

The CSR you to whom you talked was not well trained.

One of the ideas behind the DM Promo is that you leave your dish (and LNBF!) behind as an inducement for the next occupant to subscribe to DNW.

You can also get the promo w/o an AT150 & CCAP commitment for $99. DHP subs do qualify if they don't DC during the move. You should expect some additional installation charges if you have more than 1 rcvr or want any extra or custom work done.
