View Full Version : Confusion About DISH Pricing
Sorry but I am not bitching about the increase, outages or even the Dishplayer. I am however confused---and it may be my fault about the increase. Perhaps some of you are clearer on this than I am. So I just want to askk questions. I hope that is allowed.
I have AT150, locals, supers, and HBO.
Will the following be available to me
1. Locals for $5.00 with a basic package
2. Supers for an additional $3.00 with locals.
3. Can 1 and 2 be combined with theHBO/MAX packaging.
I am particularly confused on 1. I thought it was going to apply to all packages. Then just to AT 50 but mention was made about applying it to the AE package. Do the AT100 and AT 150 lose out?
And please if you are going to speculate on what DISH will do or ought to do label it as that. So we know whether it is that or inside info.

Dennis, I'm in the same situation, except that I currently have AT100, Locals, Supers, HBO and Showtime. I'm going to have to pull out my past bills and do some comparisons with the new pricing schemes.
The price break on the combo of supers and locals should not be impacted by these price changes.
Your AT150 will go up $2 month unless you have paid or will by Feb pay a year in advance.
HBO price will not change.
If you had HBO and Cinemax with the AT150 you would now see a $1.99 per month DECREASE of that package and an addition of two Cinemax channels.

I have the AE Pak plus locals, supers, and 2 sets of distants.
Currently I'm priced 72.99, 8.99 for locals and supers, and 8.99 for the two distants. 90.97
I'm curious as to how it will work out for me as well.
Though I don't expect anything though.

$2 more for the AE pak. All else the same.
So I take it you a e sating the answers are.....
1. No. The $5.00 bundling does not apply to this package.
2. You can get supers for $3.00 more than locals alone but do not count on the bundle described above.
3. No. Because there is no bundling of locals to add to the AT 150.
Altough I am pretty sure Charlie DID say that the $5.00 locals bundle does apply to the Everything Pack so Tampa 8's answer to Voyagerbob may NOT be correct. If that is true the increase is $1.01 not $2.00. Only the AT100 and AT150 go up $2.00 if bundled with locals-----if Charlie was correct.

I'm curious myself....
I have Everything + Locals + PTV + (another couple channels at $37.99 :D ).
Thats cerainly gives me HBO, Cinemax, and AT150 (+ a bunch of others). So shouldn't I see a $1.99 decrease as well?
($131.95 - I really shouldn't look at the bill)

I stand by my answer. What Charlie said applies ONLY if you add ONLY locals to the AE pak - not if you add an already bundled/discounted package such as locals and supers at already reduced price of $8.99.
I would suggest calling E* talk to at least three CSR's average the prices and then pray. The way E* trains their CSR's I expect many different answers and probably many account corrections come February.
Thanks for the clarification. But this is what makes it confusing. DISH has not released details. But that answer helps a great deal.

I made this post on another thread:
"Currently I pay the following (ignoring the .01), $32 for the AT100 and $23 for HBO/Showtime for a total of $55. After the $2 increase to the AT100, I will pay $57. Currently, to add another money channel package, I would pay an additional $7.
If I add Cinemax to take advantage of the AT100/HBO/Cinemax offer above for $50 and keep Showtime for an additional $7, I will pay a total of $57. Essentially, I get to add Cinemax for free. Is this how it will work or are they going to increase the cost of adding the 3rd movie channel to the package?
Thanks for any speculation."
I just called Dish about the above and they said I could add Cinemax to get the AT100/HBO/Cinemax package for $50 and I could keep Showtime for an additional $9, for a total cost of $59. It appears to me that I can add Cinemax to my exisiting packages and my cost increase will be the $2 February increase that I can't avoid and $2 more to add Cinemax. Not a horrible outcome. I hope the service rep had the correct information.

Charlie mentioned something about a $1 discount to my knowledge with AEP when you combine that package with locals on the Consumer Charlie Chat.

Looks like I will get a slight break after all and only get a $1 increase. Now my price should be 79.99 for AE Pack plus locals, and 11.99 for supers and two distants. Going from 90.97 to 91.98

Yes, that is the way it seems to be if Charlie did not get confused himself. That is about a 1% price increase in which is not too bad. If you have a cheaper package then it will seem like a bigger increase since the price will increase a greater percentage. I think those with the cheaper packages will complain more than those with the more expensive packages as a result.

The new pricing combos are on the Dish website now so it is confirmed. 79.99 for locals and AE Pak.

I am glad that they are having this combo packaging, I have been waiting for them to make a move like this, and it is a move in the right direction, if they can give customers a decent discount. Sometimes a couple bucks just dont do it.
