Help! My Receiver "Picture" keeps going in and our every few seconds...what is wrong?

Hi I have a Receiver question, one of my older receivers now is messing up. The pictures goes "in and out" every few seconds. Anyone else have this problem?

What service do you have? E* or D*?
What type of receiver? Without knowing,
all I can tell you is the receiver may be
DOA. You can try a reset...unplug it,
pull the smart card...etc.

Thanks for your help, it's a DISH network receiver. It's a model 3000 receiver. Worked great until this morning, it's like the pic is fine and then it goes dark for second and then fine for 5 seconds and out for s second. Like "hiccup". Is there anything I can do? It's our 3rd receiver so I want to buy an expensive new one for that bedroom. I'd really appreciate your help.

What are your signal strengths? Is it only a few channels, or across all of the channels?

The channel strength levels are fine, no change there, and yes it is happening on all changes. Almost like a glitch or a reset or a hiccip.

Sounds like the Macrovision encoding somehow got turned on. Try pulling the smartcard and power.
