NEED HELP w/ DISH prob ..My receiver pic goes "in and ourT (black) every few second

Hi I have a Receiver question, one of my older receivers now is messing up. The pictures goes "in and out" every few seconds. Anyone else have this problem?

Have you tried the standard fix? I.e. pull the smartcard out for a few seconds and then reinsert it, or unplug your receiver for a minute or two and then plug back in? What's the model number of your receiver? And most importantly, are you under the extended warrentee?

Thank s for your help, it's a MODEL 3000 receiver that we have had for a while and is used as our receiver for another bedroom so I dont wanan buy an expensive new receiver. I've tried the standard fixes...uplugging, etc. It's like the pic shows fine for 5 seconds and then resets or goes dark for a second and then is fine again for another 5 seconds. It does this continuously and just started this morning. I'd appreciate anyone's help.

Do you ever power this down to receive software updates? I have an old model 4000, and last year it started doing what you describe.

I generally never turn this off, so it had software that was over a year out of date.

Power down from the front panel and leave off for 20 - 30 minutes to ensure a sw d/l (and make sure your options are set to receive updates without asking).

It worked for me...

Try swapping locations with another receiver if the problem moves with the receiver, the 3000 is the problem. If the problem stays in that room the problem is probably cable. Check with your local dealer for bargin replacements a PRO- 301 should run about $100 he may have some better deals.
