Okay, I have to keep reminding myself "This was made in 1977, this was made in 1977". It definately shows in both the film quality and the animation style.
Apparently, this is the second Lupin TV series. The first series (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0159175) ran from 1971-1972 (23 episodes), the second series (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0159192) ran from 1977-1980 (155 episodes), and the third series (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0159176) ran in 1984 (50 episodes). This does not even count the films from the series. The first two series involved Japanese master animator Hayao Miyazaki (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Miyazaki,%20Hayao).
Fun series though about a gentleman thief. :)
