It looks like Total Choice w/locals will be going from $37.99 to $39.99 from what I read in the last paragraph:

"In the U.S., Hartenstein said DirecTV planned to implement a price increase in the second quarter, but he declined to say by how much. "It's designed to keep our most popular package with local channels at the $39 price point," he said. "

I wonder how much TC + will go up. When the consolidated the packages last year, TC+ w/locals actually went down $4 per month.

I'm going to post this in the Directv discussion as well, if that's o.k.

I knew this was coming, and I bet they would be in line with Dish's prices without much of a difference. Still not a bad bundled price package though.

DirecTV to raise prices.....3 small words...

TOLD YOU SO!!!

Now I wonder what all the E* naysayers have to say since Charlie is not the only one? I believe this will leave D* and E* about neck and neck as far as pricing goes.

Guess people will have to find something else to cry about now and those poor retailers who could not market E* because of the price increases couldn't possible sell D* now either. Guess they may have to switch to selling rabbit ears or something. Other than the up-front cost they're pretty cheap to use.

Well, cable started it.

A couple bucks more won't kill me. At least I am glad I still have my DirecTiVo's and pretty soon HDTiVo's and that's one thing that actually saw a price DROP and not a hike. AT least I don't have to pay $500 for a standard def 2 tuner unit.

You can pretty well expect an increase every single year now. There might be an exception of every two years if they raise it a little more one year to make up for the next. This will happen until some heavy duty competition will start coming in.
