H21-200 and HR10TIVO possible?

Our "dear' friend got a HDTV and had Directv come out and install a new dish with a H21-200 receiver. The two devices were connected with a HDMI connection. Now she want to record and playback non HD programs with her old HR10 TVIO. Can this combination be hooked up with components and work by turning off the H21 and switching over to AV1-2?

As long as your friend did not deactivate the HR10 and currently has it still wired up, they should be fine. They'll need to connect the HR10 to the TV as well using a different input, I don't recall off-hand what outputs the HR10 has. When wanting to playback from the HR10, your friend would just need to change the input on the TV from the HDMI source to the source that HR10 is using. You would then use the remote from the HR10 to control the playback. If you wanted one remote to control them all, you'd need to get a universal remote.
