HBO Comedy channel

Anyone know if directv has any plans to add the hbo comedy channel. I've recently become a fan of curb your enthusiasm and it looks like it is only being shown on the hbo comedy channel which directv does not carry. I called them to find out more, but the csr was clueless.

I don't know of plans to offer HBO Comedy but it's always possible. In the meantime, you can get Curb Your Enthusiasm at Blockbuster or Netflix.

Isn't this going to be part of what is rolled out once D11 goes online? I think also it is HBO who may still be working on getting the rest of their channels to HD. They may be timing it to D11 so maybe by summer?

yea i hope we get the other hbo and max channels cause 3 max channels is stupid in my opinion...

Boy Oh Boy, this is one of my request for the last 3 years. There have been several threads about this in the past. Every time there is a another, it gets me to call D* once again to request it. I always get the same reply, "Thank you for your suggestion".

So how the heck am I supposed to watch the season finale "The Bat Mitzvah" when I only have Directv? It's on this week on HBO Comedy and since I missed it regular season I've been waiting for over a month to catch it again. Looks like I'll have to wait till next season when regular HBO usually broadcasts the previous season again....:(

The CSRs aren't expected to know about upcoming HD channels.

They don't tell them any schedules for having new HD channels on. Within a few hours of telling them the CSRs would be telling customers - I just got a memo about that, that new HD channel is going to be on tomorrow !!

I am a new subscriber in LA and totally bummed that I lost HBO Comedy that I had on cable. I have called and emailed D tv about this and get generic answers and one person there even said they never get requests for this.

This is a fantastic channel, possbily the best comedy channel in existence. Uncut comedy, stand up, replays of HBO programs, etc. 24/7.

Please, contact D tv and request this channel via phone and emails. Maybe a customer blitz during the planning stage of their new satellite will influence them to provide the channel that we pay for and that SHOULD be a part of the HBO package.

Think the reason D* doesn't carry HBO Comedy is they carry the West feed of HBO Family.Don't believe that D* has the bandwith to add anymore SD channels until they take the MPEG2 HD channels off in late 2008.;)

I believe D* will add more when D11 is operational but it will probably be in HD.:)

call time warner cable and have it installed. they have ALL variations of HBO and Showtime.

I just came to D tv from TW and lost HBO Comedy. I just assumed they would have it as I ordered the premier package with all extra packages added.

I am very unhappy about losing this channel along with the other Cinemax channels and also MojoHD which I had all on TW. These are great channels.

The reason I switched was picture quality on my 1080i 60" plasma and I am happy with the PQ on D tv...

Members here, please contact D tv to request HBO Comedy via both phone calls and emails to customer service. It seems they are in a planning stage with the new hardware and we need to influence them to provide this channel. Also call HBO directly?

Whenever DoD comes out of beta, they should add HBO on demand. That should bring Curb back.

Does anyone else remember once some years ago getting a neilson questionaire geared towards Directv where they asked the question do you want HBO Comedy? There were a number of other questions, but I remember answering that one yes.

Dish only has HBO EAST & Cinamax EAST HD. You're not alone.

Thanks for writing. I understand your concerns about adding more of the MAX and HBO channels. As you know, we don't carry ActionMax and HBO Comedy right now and we don’t currently have plans to add it to our lineup.

However, we often add programming based on customer requests, and I have forwarded your request to DIRECTV management.

In addition, whenever we add channels to our lineup, we release a statement to the press, so keep an eye on the news to find out about the newest channels or visit our website at directv.com/pr.

That's the standard response from any online request with D*.

Can anyone think of others ways to get legitimate channels that should be included with our packages, like HBO Comedy and others? I think we all should still keep emailing and calling in with this request continually until they are added...

Do you think contacting HBO or the other providers directly will do anything?

Same here. I have given up on writing them and requesting, as it is always the same "canned response" as in post 19 above. :(
