I am helping out a sorta friend hook up a 2700 and a 7100 they probably bought from ebay becasue they don't know who they bought it from. Oh they have been sitting around for about 1 year and also probably have been out of the stream longer than that (keep this in mind also both reciever don't have remotes).

Ok the 2700 isn't really going to be a problem it's just the fact it has $60 worth of ppv on it. Will they be able to activate it without paying it, or can they just not hook up the phone line.

Ok on the 7100 can you do anything without the remote?? I really don't know anything about this reciever because I have never messed with one before. Will a regular dishnet remote work on it?? (I have tried and can't get it to do anything)

as for the 2700...no way in the world will they be able to activate it without paying those charges. Its right in Dish's fine print. My suggestion....chuck it and invest the few dollars in a 301. Its new, has a warranty and no money owed on it!!!

7100 Dishplayer needs the remote to set it up. This is a remote that operates only the Dishplayers no other DISH remote can be substituted. If your friend is a new DISH Network customer go to a dealer and get new equipment. Free for All will get 2 receivers for $199 up front and $17.00 credit on their programming bill each mo. for 12 mo. Free DISH will get 2 receivers for $49.99 without credits on programming. Both will get free installation. The junk they bought should go in the TRASH.
