This could have gone in the "Laughter" forum, but I'm thinking more computer savvy people would get a kick out of this.
So, I just got off of the phone with a friend of mine. He had just gone to CompUSA to buy himself a video card for his computer. I don't know how, but somehow, some way, the clerk convinced him to buy a PCI (not PCI-Express, straight PCI) nVidia GeForce FX5500 card for $80. The clerk's reasoning was that the PCI one would be better, even though my friend has an AGP slot on his board. To boot, it was $10 more than its AGP counterpart.
Me: "Let me guess, since they're going out, all sales are final, right?"
Reponse: "Yep."
Upon hearing that, I gave him the 3rd degree.
Me: "Don't buy ANY computer parts again without consulting me first!"
Sad thing is, I had just told him yesterday that the chain was closing, and why I was glad, and yadda yadda. For some odd reason, he thought he was getting a closeout deal on a card that's 3 generations behind current tech.
And this friend likes to sell himself to people as a person who can fix their computer problems as well. :bang
