View Full Version : How do I split signal from lnb?

Here's what I have now: an 18x24 DTV+ dish with a dual lnb in the 101 signal slot, a single lnb in the 110 slot and another single lnb in the 119 slot. I have a Dish 6000 hooked up to the 110/119 (and a separate 61.5) and I also have a Sony T-60 (dual-tuner) hooked up to the 101 slot (with 2 coax runs of course). This setup works fine for me right now, but I'm thinking of getting a Directv HD IRD. Obviously I will have to give up the dual-tuner capability of my Tivo, but I can live with that. I really want to get HDNet though and since I am already paying for it and since it's already there. I also subscribe to the Showtime package from Directv and want their HD channel (since I don't get it with Dishnetwork). My question is how can I work this using my current installation? I assume the Showtime HD signal comes from the 119 lnb. So I need to 'split' the 119 lnb signal, and send one end into the SW64 Dishnet switch and another into the Directv 4x3 switch. Does such a 'splitter' exist? If not how else can I do this without installing another dish? Thx

You can't split a single LNB. Replace the single LNB with a dual LNB for 119.

I just saw the lyngsat tables. It turns out Sho-HD is on 110, not 119. I can't replace that LNB with the special SatC Kit, since I need it to receive Dishnet. Any ideas?
Cheapest in the long run would be get rid of DISH and go strictly DirecTV. If you must keep DISH set up a dish 500 for DISH and put the correct LNBFs on the DirecTV dish with a 4X4 multiswitch.

I had two dishes before, I got rid of them because 'someone' was annoyed by so many dishes. So I put dish and directv on one directv+ dish.

You could put up a dish with the SAT C kit, then combine as appropriate. But I'm with BobA on this - a Dish500 / 61.5 and the oval for D* - just keep it all seperated.

Put up a dish? What kind of dish are you referring to? Can I just replace the 110 lnb that I have now with a SAT C lnb? And split the signal using powersplitters?
No the satC LNBF is designed to receive transponders at 110 that DISH dosen't use. These transponders are then combined with 119 transponders so the DirecTV system sees it as only two satellites. If you use the sat C you won't receive the 110 signals for DISH, so it is put up a Dish 500 or a separate 18" dish for 110.
