Hey guys, this is my first post, but I have been reading this great forum for a while.
Recently I started thinking about buying an OTA PCI card for my PC after realizing how better the PQ is using OTA HD vs any other providers cable or satelite.
Today I realized that VIP622 comes with an usb port, and I've been trying to find if i can connect it to my PC box without buying an PCI card just simply using an USB cable. Will it be recognized in Vista MCE or its not even compatible?
What are my options to start capping the OTA HD stuff from my dish receiver to the PC box.
Thanks a lot guys! :)

The USB ports only use is for connecting an external hard drive and not for use in connecting computers. You can capture any output from the 622 to a DVD-R or PC generally using an s-video cable.

Thanks for the reply!
Using s-Video straight to the video card, is the picture quality going to be much worse than using a digital source?
THanks again.

I plugged s-video cable from 622 to my PC, but MCE or Windows didnt recognize any external tv signal. Do i need some drivers or a special program for this?

In answer to your other question, you're probably not going to want to display the recorded rendition of what comes from S-video on a high definition television. HMC are really only good for OTA (and cable in the rare instances where you can get a QAM computer tuner).
