I found them both to be equally stunning. I would give the Blue Planet a slight edge only because I know much less about ocean life and "views", if you will.
I have already purchased the Planet Earth on HD-DVD and can't wait to do the same with Blue Planet.

I agree! However, I do want to see the version with David Attenborough narrating Planet Earth. I like his style from earlier documentaries, so I will probably prefer that, but I didn't mind Sigourney Weaver's narration either.
Each series complements the other, and I found both to be fascinating!!

I disagree completely. And the DVDs? Planet Earth's Blu-Ray DVDs are stunning. Blue Planet doesn't even come close to high def DVD quality.
I have already purchased the Planet Earth on HD-DVD and can't wait to do the same with Blue Planet.
I hated my Blue Planet DVDs so much that I returned them. They simply stunk. The PQ was terrible when compared to Planet Earth.
