Audio sync on Discovery and Science seemed to be working fine for a short week or so, but now is back. Does anyone else have this problem. Weather Channel has never been fixed. Called Directv but no one seems to care.

Have not experienced these problems.
How are you connecting?
HDMI direct to TV?
HDMI through audio receiver?
Component with separate audio cables?

Please provide info so we can assist.

Definitely getting bad on Discovery Channel. I felt like I was watching an old godzilla or kung fu movie. Audio sync was so off I had to stop watching.

I am noticing this on several channels as well. It is really annoying. Is this a known issue?

I connect audio via optical out to my a/v receiver. My video goes via component from satellite receiver to a/v receiver, then over component from a/v receiver to projector. I'm fairly certain the problem is not with my setup because I never had this issue with my Dish receiver, using same setup.

As I am typing this, I am watching DSCHD and see no problem. Audio is in perfect sync with the woman's lips moving.

Program is in HD and commercials are in SD.
Both in sync.

I am connected directly from HR20 to HDMI input on TV.
Hope this helps.

Yes, there are some teething pains getting the new MPEG4 channels up and running correctly. Lip sync is better than it was 30 days ago, if that makes you feel better.

Also helpful would be reading this thread (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=112291). It's long but it has some insightful information about lip sync problems and HDTV. At least scanning through it will get you up to speed. Basically, there is nothing anywhere in the HDTV standard that syncs audio and video together. Proper sync is achieved on a case by case, or in our situation certainly a channel by channel, basis. Sometimes it seems like sync is off for only one show. That's really frustrating.

Along these lines - anyone keeping up with the boys across the pond ? I think the BBC was/is transmitting h264 w/AC3 1080p/25 - are they having syncing issues in general ?
