Fox and WB are still not on in OMaha. Something about Papass (the owner) claiming that DIsh wants too much money, but they will on Directv this fall.
What is going on? Has anyone called them? THis has been about 6 MOnths now. all the other OMaha channels are on

The NBC sation WOWT is on the iar too and has been for some time.
The two that are not are WB15 and FOX42, both Pappas owned stations. I sent an email to DISH and FOX a little over a week ago asking about the status esp. with football coming up. The reply from dish was basically boiler plate as expected. The reply from FOX / WB was a boiler plate reply also. Then I got a second reply that really ticked me off the more I thought about it. It went on to tell me of all the options that I had to get away from DISH and what all my other options were to get their stations including over the air, cable, DIrect TV etc. My email was originally asking about status and to let them know that there was a "customer" out there that was interested in them getting things worked out.
The reply was rather arrogant on WB / FOX's part. I do not need them telling me where to get my programing. I WILL do without their stations if this is the approach they are going to take. TO top it off the email was not even signed by anyone. At least I signed what I sent them including a phone number.
Has anyone else corresponded with them? DO they have any stations on Dish in other markets. Does anyone have an email address for anyone at Pappas. There are non on their web page.

Wow,
I got the same template Email reply from Papass also.
It ticked me off also.
They also made it seem like I could use an Antenna and get WB and FOX on the Dish box and that it would act just like it does if I subscribed.
THis is not true, with dish you have to switch to the TV and change channels, there is not guide unless you have one of those new HDTV receivers.
Papass was trying to say buy an antenna and bypass the $5.99 rate.
THey also have stations in other cities like Des Monies.
Any problems there?

It's funny that they act like this when their mission statement states this:
Our duty is to serve the public interest, convenience and necessity. A true broadcaster has to perform two roles comfortably: one, that of public trustee, and the second, that of responsible businessperson. Our business interests cannot supersede or contravene our duty as public trustee.

I live in the Fresno area where their flagship station is located. KMPH(Fox) and KFRE(WB) are also not on Dish. I have to admit I have not done anything because I know what the answer will be. You can try the flagship's station website at http://www.kmph.com but I probably won't expect a reply or just another form letter.
I was thinking last night that we could call the advertisers of some highly rated shows on the channel and let them know that they are not reaching their full potential. They are paying alot of money for these commercial slots and there is a segment of people that are unable to view those commercials. I would think that they would be irritated by it.

I think we should write Letters (not call) ALL of the Papass Station Advertisers.
I bet they do not understand that Thousands are not watching there Comercials right now becuase there customers have switch from either Cable or Over the Air to Dishnetwork.
It is hard to switch your TV from Dish to Over the Air, asumming you even have an Anntena, to watch the Papass stations.
Right now I never watch there stations.
There advertisers should be asking for some kind of Discount right now, since there comercials are not being seen by the Thousands of DIshnetwork customers.
I bet the Papass stations viewing numbers per household per income charts that they use to base there advertising rates on do not reflect the loose.

How hard is it? My Model 6000 seamlessly adds the OTA. If I want to watch channel 7-1, I just punch in 0071. If I want to watch channel 7 on DishNetwork, I punch in 8220. How hard is that?
While I agree that Pappas and DishNet should play nice, you can't get your point over well when you try to make easy things look hard when they simply aren't.

Easy to say if you are able to get good reception at your home and you have a 6000 unit. I have 6000 units, but Dish does not have LIL in my area. So, I have to have an antenna complex and a bunch of bandsplitters, amplifiers, and attenuators all set up to balance out the weak distant stations (Fox and ABC in my case 45 miles to the tower) with the super strong overload any amplifier stations (NBC/CBS 5 miles from tower). Plus pull in the local other channels with as much power as a flashlight.
I am very satisfied with the result, and if Dish picked up my locals I would probably save the $$ and continue to use the antenna. But, I would have to say I probably would have given up and subscribed to LIL if I was starting over. It took me about 2 months of constant experimentation with antennas, amplifers, splitters, etc. I would have to mail order something, try it out, do experiments, etc. I have a collection of antennas. People would kill for my OTA reception in many areas. At least I did not have to deal with ghosting being in a fairly flat area (just rolling hills) with no tall building anywhere near.

Easy?
Why should I have to buy all new equipment costing Hundreds of Dollards to make it easy (like a model 6000)?
I have two of the older receivers that make switch harder for the less technical family members (all those remotes).
If they would just carry WB and FOx it would cost me only $1.00 more a month. This is a cheaper than the cost of new receivers.

You don't have to use the Model 6000 to get seamless OTA and DBS. What model receivers do you have? At worst, you have to push the TV-Video button on your remote to switch back and forth.

I have the 501 and 4700 both going through SVideo NOT the Coax.
This means that the TV/Video does not work.
You have to switch between inputs on my TV AND input modes on my Dolby 5.1 Receiver (5.1 used for HBO, Starz, and Showtime).
This is a lot of switching.
The only remote that can do all this as a Macro is about $99, again I am paying money to watch something that would only be $1 more a month if it was on Dish.

The point on switch back an forth is very dependent on the hardware that you have. I used to have a 5000 and the OTA signal could be easily fed through the receiver. I now have a 508 & a 301, neither of witch allow for easy switching between the two. This is a feature of the 5000 that DISH should not have removed and I feel that this was a pour decision on their part. IT was all marketing to sell locals I am sure. The easy of switching also depends on how many cables you have run to various locations.
The bottom line is that they should get this worked out ON BOTH SIDES so that there is a choice. Until then my choice is to use Dish, and not watch Pappass stations. They are big boys and they can both win in this if they want. My ??? still stands though, does anyone know of ANY Pappass stations on Dish?
The Pappas jackasses in Des Moines own the WB affiliate here too. They are holding out on DISH Network as well.

Don't feel bad. The WB in Des Moines is also holding out on DirecTV, as well. At least they don't discriminate! :)

Hmm, KYNE is Nebraska ETV, so should it swap places with KDIN on 110 and KDIN go to 148?

MY guess is the the IOWA PBS station is on 110 because it is feed to the Iowa markets also. The Des Moines and Cedar Rapids locals also carry the station. I would guess Souix ity will also.
It will be interesting to see where the Lincoln NE locals end up. The NBC feed is a OMAHA station fo rthe Lincoln market I believe.

I email Pappas here in Omaha and they said there company has a signed agreement now with Direct TV (Fox and WB) and they will be up on Direct TV this fall.
Pappas also owns the WB in Des Moneis, but I do not know of any DIrect TV plans there.
Now How do I get UPN on Direct TV when the UPN here in Omaha is only avl. on Cox Cable (no over the air avl to anyone).
Dish lets me buy the SuperStation package, Direct TV does not have on.
Ideas? I need my Star Trek on UPN.
Des Moines & Sioux City .... So anyway, USUALLY when a company (like PAPPAS ... or Pompous) signs with DISH or DirecTV, it's for ALL of their affiliates nationwide. So I wouldn't be surprised to see WB Des Moines on the DTV Sat also this fall.
