View Full Version : Is there any way to make the HR20 Fast-Forward Faster?

The 4x speed is just too slow. I fell asleep while watching the last few minutes of "Pirates of the Caribbean last night. I wanted to watch the rest of the movie today so I started to Fast-Forward from the beginning. It took 1 minute and 25 seconds (at 4x) to get to the part where I fell asleep at. 1 Minute 25 seconds at 4x and there was still 15 minutes left of the movie. There's got to be a better way. I hated my TIVO but it would have got to the point where I wanted in under 10 seconds! Nothing is perfect I guess.

4X is the fastest you can FF.
You can skip to the tick points... by holding down the FF button
4x FF is also faster than TiVo's fastest FF speed so it would have been longer using FF on TiVo.
You could have also jumped to the end and gone back, but you risk a spoiler that way I suppose.

Worth noting that if you have a universal remote, hold down FF for three seconds, then press it again.

Thanks guys! I am back in business. I have to figure out how I'm getting it to work. I have a logitech 550 and it seems a bit inconsistent. I think I just have to figure out exactly how it works (exact sequence of key presses/holds).
I use logitech 676.
It's a PITA but you press and hold for 3 sec and then press it a second time and it jumps to tick.

press and hold, press and hold again. Both directions. Got it!
Actually Press and hold then just press with no hold.

Cool! I don't have to hold it on the second press. I couldn't find this anywhere in the manual BTW.
It's just on the logitech remotes. Using the regular remote it's just press and hold and it jumps. That's in the manual.
Anyway, good luck.

Just tried it again. I was able to get to the same spot from the beginning in 13 seconds (much better). There is hope. I also like the 30second slip vs the skip. If you are about to go too far just press play right there and then.
I could have got this unit for free a few months ago. Now I'm feeling stupid. Its still worth the $199 +lease but you get my point.

why not a button for skip to tick? Just curious...is that on the wish list?

Which button on the remote should be used for it?
Until they re-design the remote, a lot of the functions will need to be double duty.

If the 550 supports macros (aka Sequences), just roll your own as a custom command on the display.
