NY Rangers Tonight?

The Ranger schedule says it is on FSN-S and MSG-2. What channel numbers are these stations?

The last place Knicks are on 621. Who cares?

Tonights game is on MSG2 (662 D*). Even though the game is at MSG it will not be broadcast in HD since the last place Knicks are on MSG and the Islanders are on FSNY

Any game on MSG or FSNY will be on 621 or 624 and these are the HD channels. All home games will be HD and some away games will be. The MSG2 and FSNY 2 will NOT be live HD as they can't do more than 2 feeds in HD at a time.

Whether the feed is 16:9 or pillar boxed on away feeds is dependant on the location of the game.

So, even though we see the MSG Alt channel only in SD, do CV subs in the NY area get an MSG Alt HD channel? Would be nice to see a team with a winning record (Rangers) shown in HD when they are playing a home game, instead of the lowly Knicks on the main channel when its not even in HD.

The D* online sked doesn't even show this weekend's Rangers games.. vs. Toronto and the Habs. It would be nice if D* would get this information up on their sked. Guess we have to wait until gameday to see if these are listed on our IRD's guides.

Last year Cablevision did exactly as you said above. This year, they have not switched places with the HD feed. I am on CV's Home Woodbury, LI system. Last night's Ranger game was only on MSG2 (CV ch 414) while the Knicks game was on MSGHD (CV ch 716) and MSGSD (CV ch 71) even though the Knick game was not produced in HD.

Hope the Ranger's schedule shows up by tomorrow as I have to go away and want to record both games. I think the Toronto game is in the guide and if the Montreal game does not show up I am going to record 621 and cross my fingers. :confused:

Sunday's game WILL be in HD on MSG. It was promoted as HD in the upcoming schedule during last Wednesday's game against Carolina. It should show up on the guide shortly. Tomorrows game in Toronto will be SD. The game in Calgary on 1/2 will be on MSG2-SD and the game in Vancover 1/3 will be on MSG-SD. From what I have seen this year the road games in HD have been in Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, Minnesota and of course New Jersey and Long Island. All others have been SD. I would assume any game in Buffalo will be HD as they are produced in HD by MSG for Buffalo.
FYI, the Knicks game on Sunday at 12:00 Noon has been moved to WWOR (My9).

For those of us outside the NY DMA, it doesn't matter if MSG promotes an upcoming game as being in HD, unless D* makes this feed available via NHL Center Ice and (here's the key) actually remembers to turn the channel on at game time.

It really pisses (sorry) me off that D* can't post their schedule of HD games via sports packages (like NHL CI) more than a day or so prior to a game. I'll be away for 5 days starting next week and no idea how I am going to record HD hockey when I won't know what games will be on what HD channels until game day.
