First I was watching Pushing Daisies on ABC, while I was watching it the screen broke up in a odd way(not pixelation). Then the screen just locked up with a still screen of the show and the audio still going. I had to eventually rbr it worked for a while. Then my wife was watching a recording of Criminal Minds and it just locked up completely, with the blue ring light fading in and out. Once again rbr fixed it so far. Running current national release, and system internal temp running at 100f right now. Any ideas?
Were you watching ABC over the satellite or OverTheAir? If OTA, was it KOCO, which can be a problem since they still broadcast HD on the VHF frequency. Also if OTA, how far away from the transmitter?
If you were watching the DTV feed then your locals most likely come in over the 103 satellite and low transponder signal strengths on those Ka satellites while the Kus are OK is a common subject on the board.
Curious about your transponder signal strengths.
They should look something like these before and after (bold text to the right of the before reading, listed except where there was an NA) alignment numbers. Low 103(b) readings would be a symptom of the problem you described.
(note that these are a few weeks old and DTV may have moved stuff around in the mean time)

If this behavior continues, I'd start thinking about getting another DVR.

I had the very same problem last night, but was watching a different channel. Rebooted and SD channels worked fine, but on HD only had sound, no video. Even HD programs in my play list would not show video, only sound. Rebooted again and it has worked since. Thought for sure it was just my unit, but now has me wondering.

Anything that a RBR seems to fix shouldn't send anyone into a frenzy over signal strength. There may have been a time when high error rates would trash the receiver, but that appears to have been fixed quite a while ago.

The local ABC station is notorious for poor signals since it still uses a VHF frequency. As for the 103 question, just trying to find out something for sure, there could be more than one thing going on.
The local ABC station is notorious for poor signals since it still uses a VHF frequency. When did VHF become a liability? Many areas of the country seem to be battling to keep things in the low VHF range because it gets out better for them.

This sounds to me more like an HDMI issue. Are you using HDMI? Sometimes if you lose a hardware handshake between the DVR and TV, weird things can happen. If you have it, maybe check that HDMI connection, cable etc., and also consider doing a menu reset on the DVR, powering off the TV, pulling and reconnecting the HDMI and rebooting.

People S of the transmitter have difficulty getting an OTA signal; in Norman forget it.
Not a problem for me, I'm 13-15 miles SE of the transmitter farm and get everything at 100% signal strength on a set top antenna split for each DVR/TV, diplexed into one of the cables, and then split again between the DVR and the TV. :)
Be nice to get some feedback from west5648 on any troubleshooting results or new symptoms.

Havent had any problem since, and yes I do use HDMI. And connections seem good.
