I recently purchased a Sony PSP for my husband (lucky dog). On the box it says you can pay $24.95 to download TiVO-to-Go software which will allow you to download the programs from your Tivo to your computer and then to your PSP. I downloaded the FREE software from DIRECTTV TIVO and it does not recognize I own a Tivo. I've already contacted the DIRECTTV TIVO tech support and the Geek Squad and neither can help me (no joke). In fact, DirectTV TIVO techies told me to come to this website and ask all of you. (Apparently one techie told me they come here to get tough questions answered themselves). Great plug for this site, but doesn't say much about the DirectTV techs. In any event, I found it hard to believe that the TIVO people don't know anything about the software program they sell on the internet. Help! I fear I'm at a loss.
Thanks WAYY in advance for any help!

DirecTV Tivos are not the same as SA Tivos. Tivo Software does not work for the D* receivers. D* only used a crippled Tivo software to work on their boxes.

You did not say what model receiver you have. If you do have a DirecTV unit I think you are out of luck, they are not Tivo units they are Directv units and totaly different.

That's what I suspected, but no one at Tivo or Sony could tell me that! I sort of figured that a DirectTV Tivo wasn't the same as a regular Tivo. Had I just found this great site many days ago it would have saved me 5 hours (no joke) of tech support calls and countless hours online! THANKS! Have I mentioned how this site ROCKS!

There are "software work arounds" that allow DirecTiVo's to download programs just like SA TiVo's.

If you or your husband are interested - PM me.

PS - it is not for novices.
