View Full Version : No guide data on R10

I have two (supposedly) identical R-10 DirecTivo receivers. Both were purchased on eBay from owners who previously owned (not leased) them. Both are, therefore, listed on my bill as leased receivers. Both receivers are running 6.3e (no sign of 6.3f here yet).

Tonight, as of 7pm EST, one has no guide data.

I began noticing problems a few weeks ago when certain PPV events (cricket matches) were not listed in the guide on this one receiver, but were listed on the other R-10 (and, of course, on my ancient HNS E-11 receiver). However, it was a shock to pull up the guide at 6.30pm this evening, and see every single channel listing "to be announced" from 7pm onwards. The programs are available if I tune to any subscribed channel - just no guide or info data. And, of course, no ability to use "DVR service".

If I go into the "Pick Programs to record" menu, there is a little notice at the bottom of the screen telling me there is no guide data, that it is being downloaded, and that guide data may be available in the next 1-2 days (!!). Consequently, there is absolutely nothing in the "To Do List", not even daily programs that appear at the same hour every day.

Of course, the unit is not currently doing its "record the black screen" that it does in the wee hours when actually downloading data. It tells me it last downloaded service data at 3am EST today (Dec 28). I forced a dial-in, which went successfully, but of course, this doesn't bring guide data. The system info screen also tells me the guide data is only current to Dec 27 - which you would think would trigger some alarms!

The second unit also last downloaded service data at 3am EST today - yet it says it has guide data through Jan 8 or so. And the To Do List on that unit seems to support that.

Any advice on this problem? Do I need to contact DirecTV? Is this a Tivo fault, or something screwy on DirecTV's end, not recognizing the access card or Receiver ID as being one supposed to receive guide data?

Thanks

I've had this happen a couple of times on my Tivo DVRs. Usually resetting the DVR (disconnect power, wait 30-sec, reconnect power) will bring back the Guide Data within an hour or two.
