At times I am having issues with gray screens and bad pixelation on the HD channels. My signal strength on 103b is good ranging anywhere from 83-95.

An odd workaround that I found is when I tune into an HD channel and I see a gray screen or pixelation, I go and look at the signal strength on 103b and when I come back to the channel the pixelation and/or gray screen is gone and the channel is fine.

Can anybody enlighten me as to what my problem is? The workaround is fine but I don't want to have to do this everytime to fix these issues.

If you have an HR20/21 this is usually an indication you have low signal strength on one tuner. Post all your signals on 103(b) for BOTH tuners, all transponders.

I have an HR20-700. The signal strength on both tuners is roughly the same. I am at work so I can't post them but they are between 83-95 on both tuners.

Ok here's my transponder readings on 103b:

86 82 92 89 88 83 N/A N/A

95 N/A N/A N/A N/A 94 N/A N/A

N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A

Tuner 2:

Those signal could be just a tad better, but certainly no reason for the problem you described. What's your setup: cable lengths, additional multi-switches, complete list of your receivers with model numbers for the HD receivers, etc? When you get a gray screen, is there a message number like 771, or is it just a gray screen?

My slimline dish is mounted on my shed. I have 4 receivers one of which is the HR20-700. I have three other receivers(1 DVR) running into a multiswitch which is located in my basement about 30-40 ft away from the dish. From the multi-switch, it's only about 10 ft up through the floor to my HR20-700. The gray screen I get is without any messages.

So you're saying that all 4 receivers are connected to the multi-switch, and there are 4 lines from the multi-switch to the dish. What is the model # of the multi-switch?

I have a Zinwell WB68 6x8 multiswitch.

Also, I have 5 lines coming in from the dish (1 for the Antenna) and 6 coming out to my receivers.

You didn't connect your antenna to the Zinwell did you? [there isn't an input for it so you shouldn't].

My bad, the Antenna goes right into the receiver. I thought I saw 5 lines going into the multiswitch. It's a little dark where it is located.

Remove, examine for corrosion or other problems, and re-tighten "snuggly" all the connectors in your system (including the LNB, if you can get to it safely) with a 7/16" wrench.

If that doesn't help, remove the 4 lines from the dish at the WB68, attach two of the lines directly to the HR20-700 with a pair of barrel connectors, and see if you still have the problem.
