I've read on this forum or elswhere that the max length of the cables from the dish to receivers is is supposed to be 40'. Is this a hard rule that the installers abide by? I presently use a 3 LNB dish feeding 4 cables to a multiswitch about 70' feet away and another 30' from the multiswitch to my HR10-250 and other receivers.

I wan't to upgrade to the HR-(20/21) with the 5 LNB dish installed in the same place, but afraid the installers might bolt without installation after seeing the cable length.

I presently have good signal strength on all the satellites I receive now.

Will the installers refuse installation and if they do, is there a way I could install the dish myself??

thanks
Dan

You should have no problem with coax lengths of 150 feet or so. Longer is certainly do-able but may start to involve additional equipment (power inserters or signal amps).

"standard free installation" includes up to 125 feet of coax per receiver.

You should have no problem with your installation.

40' comes from a SWM install, where the dish to SWM should be 40'.
As Carl posted 125' is "standard" and about what mine is.
