The channel was useless in terms of programming (local news,"No Te Duermas", and the live sunday mass that came directly from WKAQ TV), compared to all the programming WAPA America has to offer (all productions from WAPA, and at least 10 hours of programming from WIPR, plus exclusive broadcasting rights for several BSN Basketball league games produced by "Deportes Puerto Rico"). Dish Latino subscribers are going to finally able to watch locally produced TV from the island.

:) That's true Telemundo PR Stinks! I don't know the owners for that station let that happen. People from the States told me that they showed a lot of old stuff!

The on reason that channel was launched in the first place was just to keep it off the E* and especially keep it off Cablevision subscribers in the NYC area. They were successful on that until last summer, when WAPA was added to Cablevision's latino package (and people are actually subscribing just to get WAPA America). In terms of programming goes, Telemundo Puerto Rico stinks! Six hours of music videos, newscasts from WKAQ, "No Te Duermas", several shows that are no longer airing in PR from people that now produce shows for WAPA, reruns of Boxeo Telemundo at the time slots where they should had aired IWA Wrestling, some movies, and the live Sunday mass (which is their high point since they co-produce it with the diocese of San Juan) was too little programming comprared to "The Seventh Superstation known as WAPA" is offering.

WAPA America is so far better heads down, as much as some people criticize or hate shows like "SuperXclusivo", "Club Sunshine", and even "Super Estrellas De La Lucha Libre" (which happens to be the longest running TV show still airing on weekends on Puerto Rican TV for 34 years and counting), they compensate with great shows like "Mediodia Puerto Rico", "TV Ilegal", "A Calzon Quitao'", all their classic "Telenovelas" from their vault, some classic programming from the vault (so far all comedy shows), and the cultural and educational content that is produced by WIPR. As far as the informercials and commercials go, well, they have to make a profit while providing a service at a low cost to cable and both sattelite providers, so they can keep and/or add their channel. In other words, WAPA is a true alternative to the major Spanish networks, and a bigger threat to Galavision compared to the US feed of 52MX from MVS in Mexico City (which is a very good channel).
