View Full Version : Moved my multiswitch - did I screw something up?
Last week, I did some cable rearranging in my basement where my satellite cables meet up with all of my house cables through a Zinwell WB68
I have 4 cables from the dish and 5 cables going out (2 to the HD DVR, 2 to the DirecTivo, one to the std HD).
Does it matter which cable goes where into the multiswitch?
I see the inputs are marked as follows
18V
. . . . .Sat 99/101
13V
18V 22kHz
. . . . . . . . Sat 103/110/119
13V 22kHz
Do all 4 cables need to go to specific locations?
Is there a way to check to see if I hooked them up right after I moved the switch?

4 cables out of the dish to the top of the switch .........yes thats right
5 cables out of the zinwell is right also....... does not matter how (ware there going out of the switch.
try hitting the red button in front of the ird and redo the setup after the welcome screen,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
The 4 from the dish to the multiswitch can go into ANY of the 4 inputs, or does the voltage/satellite junk mean something?
What's making me wonder is I had some HD channels acting goofy, now they're fine and I've got 2 "dead" transponders (101 & 110). There is some snow on the dish, mainly on the lower half, and not what I'd consider a lot by any means.
The four coax from the dish to the multiswitch inputs can go in any order, but all four must be connected.
Snow on the dish can certainly effect signal.

Cool. Thanks. The multiswitch inputs sure look specific, and the instructions that came with it are in some extremely embarassing Chinglish.

The reason they are specific on the inputs is because in some complex installs you need to know which is which. Things like running switches in parallel or connecting multiple dishes to one switch.

Don't know if you solved your problem, DC, but I had a multiswitch installed recently and the installer got an "out to dish" wire and an "out to receiver" wire mixed up. This caused an outage on 110 and 119 until he figured it out. Maybe you switched up a dish wire with a receiver wire.
It's all good. The end connectors are different between the dish & receiver cables (installer-installed vs my previous work) so those are good. Must just be some snow/ice on the dish screwing things up. It was fine (I think) then got bad after a sunny day, so I'm guessing it was a thaw/freeze thing affecting those 2 satellites. We'll see what happens when it warms up a bit more today.
