I'm a newbie, so please bear with me. Been doing lots of reading, but there's lots of info.

Thinking of upgrading to HD. But looking at what I'd have to do to change my current setup to do so. And I'm seriously confused. Exactly how many coax cables do I need?

I'll have one dual tuner receiver (HD-20/HD-21) and would also like OTA signal to my TV. If I understand I cannot muliplex (or stack) the OTA signal with the satellite coax/line like I do with my current Tivo Directv setup.

So I count 3 is what I need.

But the installation FAQ checklist said make sure you have 4 coax lines run.

??

I count two tuners, and if I can multiplex the OTA w/ a satellite coax, that's 2.
If not that's 3.
There's 5 LNB's...that's 5...

No were do I count 4. Why do I need four, like the install guide here says??

As a bonus question, RG-6 or RG-6/U? There doesn't seem to be much difference, or agreement what the U stands for. Of course Lowe's charges double for the 'U' version. Any difference??

If someone could clear this up and explain I would greatly appreciate it.

You want the HR20 or HR21 hi-def DVR (include the "R" in the designation for the recording aspect). With OTA, at the moment, you want the HR20 specifically, as the HR21 does not include OTA tuners.

You need two coax lines, one per tuner in the HR20, for dual tuner operation. You need a third coax for the OTA signal.

The recommendation for four coax from the dish is if you are going to feed a multiswitch. In that case you need all four coax runs from dish to multiswitch.
