So, as far as I know, people who break their remotes, or get them "upgraded" when they get new equipment, usually toss them.
When they break a reciever, as far as i'm aware its usually tossed (unless it was in somewhat ok working order but was replaced for whatever reason). I know some people hold onto their old receivers, and some even ebay them.

But what the heck do you do with the old dishes?
I've got a Round, Single LNB, 18" (I assume) DirecTV/RCA Dish, and a New In Box (Actually, now out of box and assembled) DirecTV 3LNB dish (never used), and im about to have another 3LNB dish, when I upgrade to the 5 here within the next few days.

The old 1LNB is on the side of my house, the 3LNB is assembled, and on a shelf in my closet...

When I switched to DirecTV I sold my old Dish Network dish and receiver at a yard sale. I put $25 on it and some guy bought it in the first half hour.
