My house was built in the 80's, I have stucco on the outside. There was a previous dish from 4 or 5 years ago on my house. It had two coax cables connected to this dish and they were ran through the walls to where my TV was hooked up. However, I had cox forever so I never used them or needed them.
Now, I have gone with DTV and they replaced the old dish(which was there before I moved in). However, one of the coax wires coming from outside does not work. Since only 1 coax cable works, I can not record something and watch something else at the same time.
A recently employed person of DTV said they were coming out with or have already come out (on a beta basis) a way to watch something and record something else with just one coax cable.
It would cost a lot of money to rip up my stucco on the outside of the house and then run the second coax cable again through the drywall.
Has anyone heard of this or know of someone who has it?
What you're looking for is a SWM (single wire multiswitch - I think) and if you check the HR20 forum there is a gentleman taking orders for them. They aren't cheap that way (around $300) for the SWM and power inserter. That's still much cheaper than paying someone to tear up your stucco and drywall.
Have you tried calling D*? Now that you know what to ask for, see if they have a scheduled release date and cost.

Thank you. I'll call them up and see first. I hope I don't have to do a $300.00 switch but like you said, it would be cheaper.
Hopefully DTV has a upcoming fix for my situation, that'd be my best possible outcome :)

You are talking about an SWM. The SWM only allows single wire to certain DVR's that Directv has out. The HR-20 and HR-21 are both compatible. If you have the R15 the SWM will not help you. The SWM requires 4 wires from the dish to the SWM then 1 wire to the receiver. There were two models the SWM-5 and the SWM-8. The difference between the two is the number of tuners each will operate.

Thank you very much. I have the HR21-700....so I think I will be getting one of these.
