I want to network my computer with my HR20-700 and have a few quick questions.

First off my office where my computer is, is about 50 ft down the hall from the room where the DVR and T.V. are. I don't want to go the wireless route becaue I want the best possible connection so I'm going to run the ethernet cable through the attic and down the wall to the DVR.

Is there such a thing as too long of an ethernet cord? Does anyone see a problem with a 50ft length? It may actually be shorter.

Just wondering if it's like speaker wire where they say you can run into problems if it's too long of a run.

Secondly, where is the best place to buy a long run of ethernet cable? Someone mentioned Bluejeancable. Is that a good place?

That will get me started and then I'll check back to get other answers on what equipment I need. Thx.

Ethernet is good for about 300ft, so your 50ft will be no problem.

You can get pre-made cables from the site you mentioned or monoprice. I have used monoprice and can say they are a very good vendor.
