have a 501 and a fairly new 508. Both have been working perfectly, and both upgraded to v168 day before yesterday.
However, yesterday morning my wife tried to watch a program on the 508 (Discovery Health, channel 189) and got the "satellite signal lost" page. Upon checking, I found that there is no signal whatsoever on transponder 6 from the satellite at 119 on the 508. However, the 501 is picking up the same transponder just fine, with a signal strength of 85. All other transponders appear to be operating normally.
I've unplugged and reset the 508, and run Check Switch, with no change. I thought about switching satellite input cables between the two receivers, but doing that at either end would entail more time than I have available at the moment.
My question: is the loss of a single transponder indicative of some sort of hardware problem with the 508? Or the switch? Or what?
Thanks,
DC
