hr20 ota and translator?

Does the HR20 actually scan all of the channels for usable signals or does it do a look up from a database table? A translator was recently added for the NBC affiliate here and I can receive this channel on two tvs with their built in tuners, but I can not get a whiff of a signal with the HR20.

Right now it uses a database based on the info in the guide. Eventually it may scan for channels, but that option has been grayed out since the HR20 was introduced.
