Hello! New to DBSTalk and I have a question on converting my current wall mounted 3-LNB to a new Slimline 5-LNB dish. I have a very custom installation and I believe that I should be able to support the new ~25lbs Slimline dish.

My current mount (photo's attached) is bolted six times into anchors drilled and glued into the stuco and beam. The Mount foot is glued in addition to the bolts. It is a standard 1-5/8" mast mount that has been extended with an additional straight 1-5/8" mast, collared to the bottom mast and then attached right above that collar with an mast tri-pod support. That support is bolted to the wall into the beam. The dish is very close to the roof and this is a roof that is lower than a wall blocking the natural wind.

My plan is to use one of the adapter collars I have seen on this site to convert the mast to support the 2" Slimline dish. I'd like to hear from you all as to which of the many out there (adapters) would be best for my installation. Also, does anyone think that my setup is not suited for using the adapter? I have seen them used on post mounted dishes (for the most part).

Thanks for your assistance!

You may need to go a bit higher due to the larger size of the 5-LNB dish. If the mount is as solid as you say it is and the anchors are good, it should work.

The only problem i see is that the kaku may need to be extended a lil higher. If your facing the dish, the left side of the dish would be touching the roof. Your mount does look sufficient though.

In the past i have used a Sawsaw and just cut the needed portion off the arm of the kaku mount. I used self taps to secure the adapter and presto. The extra length of the arm may be enough for the extension i was talkin about too.

When the dish is mounted i would use One more brace.

Btw nice mount.

Thanks folks for the help! I'll double check the height off the roof for the Slimline. Using the adapter that was posted looks like it will add just a little height to the mast, I will see how that goes.

If not, the other idea to cut a mast adapter from the current 2" mast looks to be promising.

Thanks also for the comments on the mount. I tried to get something that integrates clean.

Any other ideas or concerns?
