I have noticed that now that I have DOD turned on, I get banner ads in the Grid Guide. I find that annoying. Granted the ads are currently for DOD and for the Game Zone, but how long will it be before they are for feminine hygiene products, or 1-click pizza delivery?
What is the consensus on these ads in the guide?
The consensus is that very few people like them, but almost everyone thinks they're here to stay. :(

I don't like them. I bring up the guide, I want to see the guide.
Yea I agree. They are annoying for sure. But I wouldn't mind a 1 click pizza ad!

If you take 268 (WE) out of your favorites, the Game Lounge banner goes away.
Why is that?Beccause DIRECTV can use the banner ads to promote channels and services, potentially making money for themselves. They are a for-profit business, hence the expectation that the banner ads are here to stay.
A secondary reason is that a poll has been running in the Cutting Edge - On Demand Service forum since September 5, 2007, when the banner ads were first introduced to testers, and with 360 votes cast and 67% opposed to the banner ads, no change has been made. Instead, we've seen multiple ads added to the guide, so scrolling through the guide you now see more than one ad ...
