I am in the Chico/Redding DMA, and we are supposed to get locals in about 2-3 weeks. I have had a waiver for all the networks for years (I had a company come to my house to measure signal strength to prove I couldn't get what the local stations insisted I could, and sent the results to the stations and DISH).

I am currently getting both east and west coast nets. Once the local are on line, will I automatically lose my distants even if I don't subscibe to the locals?

Ideally I would like to subscibe to the locals, and keep only the east coast distants. Is this possible?

Thanks,

Mitch

Qualification for distants and locals are 2 separate things. Locals becoming available has no effect on your qualification for distants. You can keep your distant channels after locals become available. You could also have the locals and one set of distants if you want. A number of other users have locals with distants.

Qualifications for distant locals is based on being in a so called white area. If you live in one you can sub to distant nets whether your provider carries your locals or not.

You can buy your locals if they are carried and you live in that DMA. So if you live in the right DMA but still get terrible reception you can get both.
