I've been lurking for awhile, but finally registered today when I got my free HR21-700 upgrade. This new receiver is replacing our HR10-250 in the living room, which I have now placed in my bedroom to replace my R10. Anyways, on to my question:

In one of the bedrooms, we have an H20, and from the settings menu I can set the receiver to not display duplicate channels, meaning if the channel is both in HD and SD, it will only display the channel once in the guide (the HD channel). So I was looking through the settings on the HR21, and I couldn't find a way to do this. Is it just in some place I haven't found yet, or does the HR21 not have this ability?

I got this trick from another thread somewhere. Just make up a favorite list and do not choose the SD channels. This is easier for my family. Alas there is no setting that I know of to do this automagically.

Welcome to the forum!

Depends on the level of software you have. I don't think the HR21 National Releases can do that yet.

If you punch in the number of a duplicate, it should give you the HD channel first, though. The HR2x software always did that, as far as I know.

You can use the favorites trick. That will not eliminate the SD channels from searches, however.

Thanks for the answers and the welcome. I'm still trying to make the transition from the DirecTiVo to the HR21. While I was aware of the lack of dual live buffer in the HR2x, I didn't realize how much I'd miss it. Oh well, it's the sacrifice I had to make to enjoy the new HD channels.
