This a.m. I hit the PVR button on the PVR508 in my store to see if it properly recorded a movie I set it up last night.

Along with the event I wanted the was a New Features event listed.

"Great," I thought. This will be a video demo of the new features that came down w/168 the other night.

Except it wasn't. The recorded video was just the Remote Control Help video loop from Ch 101!

What a SNAFU!!!

Anybody else get this?

Hi,
I also got up this a.m. and noticed New Features (5min. in length)
It contained info on the new features and was very helpful. Maybe call dish and ask them to download the info to you again. It sounds like they downloaded the wrong info to you. It kinda scary to see they got into your/my systems and planted a recording on our PVR. Sounds like 1984!

My Receiver did not download the video automatically on upgrade, but if you want to see it it is being broadcast each evening at 1:00AM (PST) on channel 101 for the next few nights. I just tuned in to watch it last night.

The video does NOT download to your receiver. An automatic timer is setup to record channel 101 at a given time when the video will be broadcast.

I was awake feeding the baby the other night and saw the video (I believe it was at 4am or 4:30am) It showed you how the features worked and also told you to shut of your receiver when its not in use so it can get software and also decrease the wear and tear on the hard drive.

The funny thing is when I saw the video it was before the software started spooling.

Well, it turns out I got the right video at home.

I guess having a timer preset for the same night on the store unit screwed up the start time for the timer E* put in for the video.

But it's hard to understand how it happened since my manual timer event was finished a good couple of hours before the video would have been set to record.

I got my new feature video last night. My receiver was on the night before so I'm guessing that's why I didn't get it then.

Kind of nice to get these sort of things describing the new features.

Hey, waddayano, the real "New Features" video was recorded the following night.

Looks like the SW is "smart" enough to know if it came in right!

Either that or Dish knew they messed up with the previous timer they had put into the satellite receiver and so they decided to send it the next evening as well. That is just my guess.

I just wonder why Dish make a 5 minute recording for a 3 minute video. I had two minutes of a "thank you" screen after the video ended. Weird. They must have known how long the video was before they scheduled it.

HT guy, I got the New Features video downloaded the other night . After I watched the video, I erased it from my PVR a couple of nights later........ Another two days past after erasing the video and again it was downloaded to my PVR again.

So I guess they keep sending it out on other occasions to make sure everyone does get it.
