I'm going to switch from the Premium package to lower tier package. I'd like to keep one of the premium movie channels. My thought was HBO even though they are light on HD channels. If you were to have just one premium movie package which would you have?

It depends on what kind of movies/programming you like and if you have a DVR.

While Starz! is often advertised as "the best deal" because it has 12 channels, most of them show the same films over and over, and there is even duplication between the various channels. They also annoyingly interrupt the movies with "channel bugs" in the corner of the screen, and ALWAYS interrupt the closing credits with promos for their other channels/programming so you can't see who a particular character was played by. Showtime Unlimited is pretty good, but since they don't have the Time-Warner studio connections, they often don't get the blockbuster movies some folks like. But they do have live boxing. Plus a lot of original series programming ("Dexter" etc.) And FLIX is a nice channel if you like older classic movies. HBO tries to offer something for everyone, but it is a buck more per month and doesn't have that much variety. Cinemax only has three channels (here's where the DVR part comes in) but if you like action movies, it's the best. And it promises a new movie every night at 8PM ET. Only HBO and Cinemax run their movies totally uninterrupted, including the closing credits. This is a big plus in my opinion but maybe not yours.

Since you have the Premium package now (which includes ALL the movie channels) which movie package do YOU like? That's the one I'd keep. Or, better still, if you have a DVR, change packages once in awhile when it seems you have seen (or recorded) all the new films.

I agree Starz seems to show the same movies over and over.I wish I could just receive encore by itself.I see a movie on Starz and then just a few months its on the encore channels.Encore should be split from the package.A good example of this was with the movie Eight Below.
