Watched The Goonies last night. What a great DVD!!! Picture and sound
are awesome. The running commentary is hilarious. And the DVD
contains Part 1 and the rarely seen Part 2 of Cindy Laupers video.

The running commentary has to be the best part of this DVD. They got
all of the kids back together and instead of just hearing them, you
get to see them. Every so often the movie picture would change to a
PIP and the large part of the screen would be the group watching the
DVD along with the rest of us. It was great and some of them have not
changed at all.

If you like the Goonies, you will love this DVD. Go get it now! The
stores seem to be running out of these quickly.

I remember when this movie came out I was about 14 or 15 and I went to see it with some friends. We liked the movie so much we wanted to build a water slide like the one in the movie. We liked the part where Mouth (Corey Feldman) had his mouth stuffed full of jewels, so we'd mess around in the pool and I'd stuff my mouth full of those parade necklaces, marbles and whatever else was lying around and spit them into the pool.

Anyway, I used to have a collector's edition fan magazine about The Goonies and it said that when you see the kids' reaction to finding the pirate ship, it is their true reactions. They were barred from the soundstage while the ship was being built and when they were allowed to enter the soundstage for the first time, their reactions were filmed and used in the movie. :-)

I wish I still had the fan magazine. :-( I don't know what happened to it. :-(

That subject comes up in the commentary. Corey says that him and Sean Astin snuck in a saw the boat before everyone else so they "acted" their reaction.

I thought that they brought up some interesting stuff during the actors' commentary. Namely, that about 7 hours exist of taped footage, including a "gorilla" scene. I'd kill to get my hands on that.
