I am about to buy a HR21 but have now realized I will need a dish with 5 lnb's, but I live in Canada and I know the New 5 lnb dish will not work in my area as I am too far north. Is there a way to have 5 separate dishes and hook them all together. (by the way I live on a acreage so I have the room).

Thanks for your help

Doug:)

I don't believe that D* has ever put out seperate LNBs for each location. Yer best bet is to read this (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=62223) thread.

Yer best bet is prolly an AT9 for 99/101/103 with the sidecar disconnected, then two 18" for 110 and 119.

See the link in my signature below for several known approaches to combining multiple dishes. Especially review the information on the larger dishes used in Alaska and Hawaii.

Thanks , but would it not be possible to have 5 single dishes and use multi switches to combine them all? That way you would get the maximum signal for each satellite?

No one has attempted 5 separate dishes as that would be technically difficult. The "5 LNB" dish is really a 3 LNB dish as the LNBs handle (1) 99,101,103 (2) 110 (3) 119. There is a dish designed just for Alaska/Hawaii as litzdog911 mentioned that should work for you, although it is very expensive.

does anyone know the name of the dish for Alaska, or where I can find one?

Thanks Doug:)

I believe the big dish details are in the last few pages of the thread mentioned by litzdog911.

See the last several posts in the thread linked in my signature below.

You cannot use 5 dishes because there are no single LNB assemblies just for 99 or 103 (Ka-band) satellites.
