Info not available?

I was about to set some timers on my new 508 today and when I advanced the program guide to monday night so I could set the timer for fear factor...all of the sudden the program titles disappeared & were replaced with "Info not available".

When I press guide it says "retrieving program info from satellite" in the upper right corner, and it will sit there for a while and then just go back to what I was watching, never updating.

Is anyone else having similar problems today?

It happens every once in a while. Try pulling the card or hold the power button on the 508 down for 3-4 secs, until the red LED blinks. The receiver will reboot and, if needed it will redownloading the guide info, the EPG should be fine afterwards.

I have been having the same problems with my 301 and after 20 minutes on the phone with a Dish CSR I was told this is normal and the way it has always been (I apparently have never noticed before they told me).

My problem is a lot of shows starting 1 hour out are info not available UNTIL the inset picture in the guide comes up. Essentially if I turn on the box and then go to the guide I need to wait at least 45 seconds for the picture to come up and then about 80% of the time the guide follows. I haven't tried without the inset box but that is my next thing tonight after the kids are done watching and go to bed.

Whats up with this? Its supposed to be a 8 day guide. Now as long as you turn it off occasionally shouldnt it perodically go retrieve the guide?

Mattmill what you are seeing on the 301 is normal. Dish is in the process of compressing the guide so the Legacy receivers and the 301 will be able to display it faster. The PVR 501/508 should download a 9 day guide to the hard drive off the 110 satellite.

Faster? It seems much slower right now then it was when we signed up last summer.:shrug:

Faster download, but slow to display - need to decompress the guide info as well.
