Thanks to the 681 uniquely-registered voters who have taken the time to let DirecTV know how they value the various Wish List requests!

There are 2 new requests being added to the list this week, so be sure to let us know how you value these ideas here (http://www.sizethis.com/index.php?module=survey&survey=28). It only takes a minute to vote for new requests, which are highlighted in BLUE.

Please keep in mind when you vote that you are simply being asked if you would use a new feature if it was implemented (THUMBS UP), or if you wouldn't use a new feature but don't mind if it's there for others who might need it (NEUTRAL). E.g., the "Ability to remotely control more than two HR20/21's in the same room via IR" is an example of a request that should fall into the NEUTRAL category for the majority of voters. THUMBS DOWN votes should only be used for features that might adversely effect your use or enjoyment of the HR20/21.

Based on the results of this (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=114573) poll,
Optional "2-click" access to the following features: "Menu-0"=TO DO LIST, "Menu-1"=PRIORITIZER, "Menu-2"=HISTORY, "Menu-3"=MANUAL RECORD, "Menu-4"=TITLE SEARCH, "Menu-5"=KEYWORD SEARCH, "Menu-6"=SAVED SEARCHES, "Menu-7"=SETUP, "Menu-8"=CYCLE FAVORITES and "Menu-9"=CC TOGGLE.has been added to the list this week.

___________

Our second new Wish List addition is based on the results of this (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=113809) POLL.
"Up to FFX3, automatically switch to PLAY at the end of a commercial block."___________

Because it conflicts with this week's first new request, the following old request has been moved to the "back burner (http://www.sizethis.com/index.php?module=results&survey=28&bb=y)":
"Provide numeric hot links in setup menus for faster menu navigation."___________

WHAT'S HOT! Here are the top scoring requests:

Display only the channels that are in your current subscription package in SEARCH results.
Recording HISTORY should always display the correct reason a show was "Canceled", "Deleted", or "Not Recorded".
Dual Live Buffers - Toggle between two live shows with 30+ minute buffers on each.
OPTION to backup your HR20 settings and/or SERIES LINKS via network or USB drive.
Allow editing of the "CHANNELS I GET" list, similar to the way the OFF-AIR channel list is editable.
OPTION to display more GRID GUIDE information. More channels and hours.
At the Delete/Don't Delete pop-up at the end of recording, RW and REPLAY should still function.
Add more program description INFO, to allow better SEARCHES and to display more show details, like "Original Air Date".
"BLACKED-OUT" programs should be tagged, to prevent scheduling blank recordings.
Ignore irrelevant words or punctuation ("Manual:", A, An, The, 'Til) when alphabetically sorting MY PLAYLIST.
Show the highlighted program's description in the "To Do List" and "History", instead of a static message.
Automatically pad a recording's start and/or stop time by one minute, when it won't cause a conflict.
Undelete, or the ability to allow user acccess to a "recycle bin" to restore a recording.
Implement SEARCH and AUTORECORD as described below, or the key concepts contained within, including top-level CATEGORY search, TITLE AUTORECORD, multiple keywords, wildcards, BOOLEAN logic, CHANNEL filters and REMOTE keypad shortcuts. (Please visit the Wish List to see this request in its entirety.)

SERIES LINK recording options as follows: RECORD: [First Run/Repeat/Both/All with Duplicates]; KEEP AT MOST: [1/2/3/4/5/10/ALL]; WHEN LIMIT REACHED: [Delete Oldest/Stop Recording]; AUTODELETE WHEN DISK FULL?: [Y/N].
Multi-Room Viewing via the Ethernet Port.
OPTION for the PROGRESS BAR to clear immediately when hitting PLAY to exit from a CRUISE CONTROL function, or after the last ADVANCE. ___________

WHAT'S NOT! The lowest scoring items (lowest last):

Ability to "power off" or "shutdown" via a menu option.
Offer a "Keep At Most" option for manual recordings.
Increase the number of Custom channel lists to 5 or more.
OPTION to change color schemes or themes.
Light amber LED for 1 recording and red LED for 2 recordings.
OPTION to use the PLAY key for PLAY/PAUSE and the PAUSE key for SLOW MOTION.
Ability to create custom PLAYLIST tabs (other than the "ALL" tab), and to designate upon which sub-tab a recording might also be displayed.
Ability to remotely control more than two HR20/21's in the same room via IR.
"Digital Living Network Alliance" certification of features intended to interoperate with other DLNA-compliant products. ___________

Only some of the current Wish List requests are contained in this post. You may view the entire list of 73 items here (http://www.sizethis.com/index.php?module=results&survey=28). /steve

Is D* risking angering the networks by allowing people to not even look at the TV to get to the end of a commercial break? I would love this, but I am not holding my breath.

Is D* risking angering the networks by allowing people to not even look at the TV to get to the end of a commercial break? I would love this, but I am not holding my breath.Well I'm not sure folks would actually turn their eyes away from the screen, as you suggest. Especially since this method will not be 100% reliable by it's nature.

Assuming folks continue to watch the screen, this suggestion is really no different than FF'ing or SLIPPING through a commercial now, IMO. It's just another aid to stopping correctly, similar to the intention of FF AUTOCORRECT.

I think we pretty much beat the subject to death here (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=113809), if you'd like to see what others had to say both pro and con this idea. /steve

It was pointed out in another thread that we may not have chosen the optimal key layout for these shortcuts, based on predicted frequency of use. With that in mind, I've changed the request to read as follows:

Optional "2-click" access to the following features: "Menu-1"=CC TOGGLE, "Menu-2"=CYCLE FAVORITES, "Menu-3"=TO DO LIST, "Menu-4"=PRIORITIZER, "Menu-5"=HISTORY, "Menu-6"=MANUAL RECORD, "Menu-7"=TITLE SEARCH, "Menu-8"=KEYWORD SEARCH, "Menu-9"=SAVED SEARCHES and "Menu-0"=SETUP.

The top row are the ones I think will be most clicked. I put "TODO" at #3 to keep all the "Manage Recordings" functions together. I also made the bottom row the "Search" row, with "Setup" all by itself at "0". /steve

I always liked the mnemonic of 2 being "TO do list" and 4 being "search FOR show by title". It was easier to remember that way for me.

I don't remember seeing this in the wish list, but I have accidentally deleted recordings multiple times. I catch it right away, but of course it's too late. It would be nice to be able to undelete, at least for a few minutes after the delete takes place. You can undelete files on a PC, so should be able to do it on a DVR as well. I got burned by this again Friday, wanted to delete the entry next to Friday Night Lights, but accidentally got FNL instead before I had watched it. I really like that show, and hated having to miss it. Ended up watching it off the internet but it's not the same, of course.

I would also like this.

Terrific. I looked for it before posting, but totally missed it. Matter of fact, I had already voted for it.

I would like the ability to spin the hard drive down to conserve energy and most of all, life expectancy.

I had a time warner/comcast dvr box that would do this.

I would like the ability to spin the hard drive down to conserve energy and most of all, life expectancy. Also already on the list. :)

OPTIONAL "Energy Save" mode.

If you haven't already, please be sure to vote for this and other requests you like here (http://www.sizethis.com/index.php?module=survey&survey=28). TIA.

BTW, some folks believe that starting and stopping hard drives actually shortens their life, and that it's healthier to let them spin. I have no idea if this is correct.

I think thr ToDo list issue should be its own entry. The vast majority are unhappy with the loss of a shortcut to it in the latest release. And, of those, most want to have the LIST>LIST shortcut implemented (i.e. press LIST a second time to access the ToDo list).

Could this be added to the wish list please?
