I am trying to give my old HD DirecTivo DVR my mother in law. I took it to her house and hooked it up but it only worked with my access card, but not with her access card (she is already a DirecTV customer).

What do I need to do to transfer this DVR to my mother-in-law so that she can see her programming using an access card tied to her account?

Thanks.

You will need to contact D* to have this activated on her account. May need a new access card too.

Access cards are associated on a one to one basis with receivers. They can't be moved from one to another without calling DirecTV and having them change the card/receiver association in their records, then send the appropriate authorization to the card.

Your solution is just a phone call away.

Wouldn't you want to give COMCAST to your Mother-in-Law???:D
