I took advantage of the D* free offer to upgrade my remaining SD receiver and HR10-250 to the HD versions.
I asked the CSR to specify a HR20 to replace the HR10-250 so I could continue to receive the local PBS channels. Before installation, I called the installer contractor to verify that the HR20 was on the work order.
When the installer arrived he said that the HR20 was no longer manufactured and he would install a HR21. When pressed, he said he had one HR 20 in his truck that I could have . He may have been fishing for a tip.
Coincidently, the day before the installation, the signal strength dropped to the 30s on many of the transponders causing 771 messages.
He checked the dish and replaced the LNB head to restore the signal strength.
He got a good tip for a job well done.
