I need a solution to manipulate the IR remote control for D10/11/12 & H20/21.
1)Disable front panel. 2)When guide button is pressed, a dedicated favorite guide display appears only. 3)Disable selected buttons. For example, menu button on remote control.

1) Put it in a safe
2) Setup favorites and parental controls
3) set the remote to RF, then open the remote and literally disable the buttons.

1. Don't think that's possible. If you ever lose your remote, how will you able to use your receiver?
2. Maybe in a future software update.
3. Buy a programmable remote, map only the buttons you want to use, then hide the factory remote. If the programmable remote can do macros, you might be able to set it up to handle problem #2.
Why do you want to go through so much trouble? If it's to keep the kids from watching certain programming, why not just use the parental control options on the receiver?

Agree with your #3, and yes you can probably solve #2 as well. I haven't tried programming a macro for that, and it can be a problem if the state logic isn't consistent. But using my Pronto touch screen remote, only the keys I want the user to see are visible at any one time. This means that the casual user can't screw up the DVR or TV settings by accident.

1) Well, there is a command that can be sent in via the usb/serial port that will disable the remote and front panel. It's 0x94 - DisableUserEntry. I have no idea if it stays in effect if the box is rebooted or loses power.
