hello, i have a problem, i got an enclosure and i connected the hard drive correctly inside but it wont show thats its connected on my computer. I've turned my computer off and connected the drive and turned both on at the same time and it still didn't appear. what am i doing wrong? Can i connect it to a laptop or does it have to be a desktop? should i not be looking for the drive under My Computer? thank u

I'm assuming it uses a USB connection. Often, external drives won't cause new device messages to appear. Assuming you have Windows XP on your computer, it should show up as a second hard drive on your My Computer screen.
I'm assuming you've used the utility program that came with the drive to format it. If the drive hasn't been formatted, it won't show up.

Shouldn't matter if it connected to a Laptop or a desktop. If this is a new device then maybe you have to format it and assign a drive letter to it?

Try right clicking on my computer, click manage then disk management. Does it show up there? If so then this is where you will need to format it and assign it a driver letter.
