I just bought a DirecTV system: 2 HDVR2 Tivos, a 2 room satellite package (18" dish 2 receivers), a 2X4 Multi dish switch and a multi satellite oval dish.

What I am trying to do is set up three rooms. Two with the dual tuner Tivos and one with a regular receiver, needing 5 lines all together.

Is there a cheaper way of doing this instead of buying a 2X8 multi dish switch? Can I use the quad LNB oval dish and send two lines to the 2X4 multi-dish switch and send a 5th line to the third TV?

I'm going to return the oval dish and the 2X4 if they are not needed. I don't plan on staying in this house when I finally get HDTV. Only need one 18" for NY DMA locals.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You can buy a 2X6 multi-switch for about $50. I'd return the oval dish and the 2X4 multi. Do a quick Yahoo search and find a Spaun SMS 261F multi-switch. You have the same setup that I have (although I added a fourth receiver). Spaun is the only brand I'm aware of that has a 2X6 available.

BTW, you missed a helluva a game on YES last night with the Nets vs. Jazz. I was at the game, 106-103 Jazz in OT. I'm dragging butt today, but what a game!

Good luck with your install and enjoy your setup.
