What do you mean by "drop outs"? I did notice some issues on New Year's Eve on KCPQ13 where the audio & video with black. One time there was actually an on-screen DirecTV message stating that they were aware of the problem, so I assumed it was caused by KCPQ13's equipment.

I've had assorted problems with them for a couple of months. Like you, I am not having problems with other local HD channels. My OTA reception of Q13 is pretty good, but I switched over to the D* feed when mpeg4 settled down. Since the problems are so intermittent (and because I'm always seeing them on recorded material), it's not practical to briefly switch back to OTA to see if it's Q13 or D* with the problem. Even if Q13 OTA is fine, there are lots of ticklish points in the Q13 path through D*.

I have had several instances of the video going black and audio going quiet on recorded material from ABC (KOMO) and NBC (KING). Don't watch that much Fox (KCPQ) to have noticed it.

When it happens, it typically lasts for as much as a minute, but the time bar keeps working, and you can move through the black (forward and backwards) to normal video/audio.

I watch a lot of KCPQ in the A.M. and have been seeing the audio and video go black usually just for a about 30 seconds at most. I have called D* on this and get the usual response of "we will upgrade this and if you don't see any improvement call back in 1 week" and that has been at least 6 mos. so you know how many calls I have made:rolleyes: . I have D* on speed dial:lol: .

We should also be contacting KCPQ directly about this problem.

Noticed the problem as well. I thought it was my HR20 and software issue, but obviously it is not a hardware, or software related on my side.

I believe it is the receiving antenna dropping the signal that DIRECTV has in downtown Seattle. But to get DTV to admit to it, is another thing, all they want to do is waste my time with a service call when I try to tell them it’s their antenna that’s dropping out. I talked to the transmitter engineer at Q13 when I was trying to get it OTA, because I have to go over 2 hills, an island, and then the sound to get it. They said that they offered DTV to set up a direct microwave link like what they do for Comcast, but DTV wouldn't do it.
Today Monday while watching Q13 morning news its been doing dropping out for as much as 20-30 seconds at a time.

I guess I’ll just have to hope my OTA antenna doesn’t drop to much tonight so I can see Prison Break.

We got so many problems with the Sd channels as well, try to call Directv tech support, I complained about the poor quality of the SD and now they are better.

I will try to call Directv tech support as well, and I think other people who noticed the problem SHOULD DO IT AS WELL. The more people call them, the faster they will fix it.

You can add me to the list of people seeing issues with KCPQ also. Since it does not occur with the OTA version, I can only assume the issue is on the DirecTv side.

We are going to see some improvements in a day or so for Q13 HD on Directv.
Dish network should see some improvements as well for the SD version (so far no HD version for Dish)
They put fibers into both the Direct and Dish/Echostar OTA receive facilities in Seattle.

Good news :joy: :icon_kiff :goodjob: :dance01: :jumpingja

Cool. I've been seeing this every morning for a couple months. Seems like it only happens in the morning however.
