I have been a lurker on this site for months and have found valuable info, but now I need some help. I have been with DTV for a long time. In one room I have had a d10 receiver that I split the coax out to the tv so I could have a slave tv in another room. I just upgraded to hd in that room and I am confused as to how I can still have a slave tv in the other room since there is no coax from the hd receiver to the tv. Does anyone know how I can still use the tv in the other room as a slave tv to the one hooked up to the hd receiver.

You could run component or composite cables to the other TV, not coax. All outputs on the HD tuner are live at the same time.

And welcome to DBSTalk!

davring is correct, all outputs on the box are active.

You need a RF modulator that would connect to the composite audio and video jacks of your receiver (the yellow, white and red ones). That would then give you a signal to run to your slave TV through the existing coax. Radio Shack sells them. link (http://www.radioshack.com/sm-rf-modulatorvideo-component-adapter--pi-2103095.html)

Here's (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00008X5DC/ref=pd_cp_e_2/002-9590582-9139218?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_r=1VQJMZ4DNNE0BTGV78E1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=250314601&pf_rd_i=B0000AJ3K0) a stereo one from Amazon.com that would be cheaper.

Assuming that you mean the 'slave tv' is too far away to use the svideo or composite outputs for it, you can use an 'RF Modulator'. It will take the standard composite (RCA Jacks) ouput and convert it to VHF channel 3 or 4 to run over the coax to the other tv. You can get one at any local store that carries tv hardware.

Catsports......i can tell you what I did .....I had the same problem when i switched to the HR20 DVR.........

You need to buy a modulator box........it will have a composite(yellow RCA) going in the Modulator box and COAx cable going out!!!!!!!!

It works like a charm!!!!

You can find these at Radio Shack or just about any Electronics store......just make sure that it has Composite going in and Coax out!!!!!!!

We need a utility that pops a message "Another user is postng this same response, do you wish to continue..."

If it isn't answered twice, it isn't answered right.

I think Wal-Mart has them. Bound to be cheaper than RS.

How could that be? The same Chinaman makes them both:)
