View Full Version : program in 2008
1st to all, I hope that the new year brings U & YOUR LOVED ones nothing but the very best of health & happiness for the new year.
Just a cple of "curious Questions about DTV programing
1,SINCE 01-02-2008 has or will DTV be adding any more of its general tv channels, (in other words more programing like he scifi channel or animal channel or wgn or ??) general tv channels/
been watching the onscreen guide & have seen, (sports,PPV.Music hd channel expand ) but no NEW general channels/stations.
2, WHEN a HD channel's signal,(problem asked here---http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=105753&highlight=clato)
but doesn't a broadcasting station monitor their signal or broadcasting output to see what viewers are seeing?
Can't understand why this signal is ALMOST ALWAYS messed up on 248HD.
thanks for the info
again Happy new year,
clato

Clato: Don't know with package you subscribe to so I would recommend the Premier package for the most programming. You can also subscribe to the HD Extra pak for more programming.;)
For signal problems I would contact DirecTV.If it's not DirecTV's problem they can complain to the programmer for you.;)
When a programmer goes HD you will see it with the programming I have suggested.;)
All the best to you and yours in the New Year.:balloons: :new_smili :icon_band :hb:  :flag:

Your issue with 248 is because DirecTV is sending a channel that is supposed to be in a 4x3 format with the pillar bars to maintain the correct aspect ratio. I don't know if DirecTV adds the pillars or the broadcaster. When you see the image in full screen it is being stretched, and people complain about that as well.
In the future, there may be an enhancement that they are referring to "As Broadcast". If you enable this option (currently not available on the national release), DirecTV will transmit the image as a 4x3 image, and your television can scale it however you like.
"I don't know if DirecTV adds the pillars or the broadcaster. When you see the image in full screen it is being stretched, and people complain about that as well."
DirecTv doesn't have the capability to add pillars, they can only relay the signal from the broadcaster to you.
