Scott, since you seem to have an inside connection with Dish, could you please poke around a bit and see if they plan on offering the 8psk mod for the 6000 on a special offer again?
Seeing as how there may be a few more HD channels coming soon and HD Discovery is cranking up their new programming, I'd think it would be a smart move on Dish's part to run the promo again.
Thanks.

Discovery HDT has me hooked. I watch it a lot. They increased programming to 4 hours a day. While this does not sound like a lot, it is. Since, it repeats 6 times, you have a chance to catch it again if you missed it. I often watch it late night after prime time on other channels.
It is nice not having any commercials. My cable company would probably have to get this channel now before I would consider switching back.

Will the 501/508/721 ever be capable of going HD with some sort of mod?

It is a shame that they did not put HDTV into the 721. At least let it see the 8PSK and the HD and down convert it to STD def. A lot of times I do not bother to switch my TV to 1080i mode because I am going back and forth between HD and STD. The 721 chip set could have scaled down the HD image with just some more memory.
As a company Dish probably should consider making all new receivers 8PSK compatible and HD capable (with down res). That way eventually they could start to offer new programs in HD or Enhanced resolution and have a wide base of receivers that could receive it.

Sooner or later ALL Echostar Receivers will be HD Receviers. I predict later then sooner, but I see HD receivers becoming the norm. :)
